FITS Accepted Scenario Based Training Now at Suncrest Aviation

Suncrest Aviation is pleased to announce a new standard for helicopter flight training, FITS accepted scenario Based training.

What is FITS? FITS stands for “FAA Industry Training Standards” The FITS program is a partnership between the FAA, Aviation Industry, and Academia designed to enhance general aviation safety.

FITS is focused on the redesign of general aviation training. Instead of training pilots to meet the PTS “Practical Test Standards”, FITS focuses on expertly managed real-world challenges.

Scenario based Training is used to enhance the General Aviation pilot’s aeronautical decision making (ADM), risk management (RM), and single pilot resource management (SRM) skills. This is accomplished without compromising the basic maneuver skill sets outlined in the PTS.

Suncrest Aviations curriculum and syllabus now includes these three concepts: Scenario Based Training (SBT), Learner Centered Grading (LCG), and Single Pilot Resource Management (SRM). These concepts provide the Pilot in Training (PT) an enhanced learning environment and the opportunity to practice, drill, and then reflect on the problems and tasks he or she encounters in training.

We are the third helicopter flight school in the nation to embrace this new training as part of our program. With this new program, Suncrest Aviation will now be able to provide flight training that meets industry standards for 2011 and beyond. We’re excited to be a part of the movement that will lead and prepare the next generation of helicopter aviators into the modern world of aviation.

What Our Students are Saying

" I have dreamed of being a pilot since I was a kid. I didn't think it was possible until I found Suncrest, where I was really impressed by the people who are there. They posses a confidence that I liked, and I knew I could excell here. I began my training last September and I am now an instrument rated commercial pilot, working on my CFI."

Justin

"I give my full endorsement of Suncrest Aviation. They were flexible with my work schedule and competitive on the prices they charged for helicopter time. I received excellent training from the instructors and always felt prepared going into check rides. I completed my CFII training in just over a year going part-time, and I am now in my career as a professional helicopter pilot. I know I made the right choice in helicopter schools by training at Suncrest Aviation."
